- For people without any previous Haskell experience the second part of the course might be hard.» (Yes, the goals seem reasonable)

- The help we could get on the labs were fine but the lectures were boring, sometimes it seemed as the teacher had not gone through the material him self and just ended up changing slides back an fourth.» (Small extent) (den här kommentaren har blivit redigerad i efterhand)

- Meaning asking for help with the labs. Asking the teacher about how to interpret the take home exams was difficult, he could not give any answers to what was expected of us in the take home exams. » (Rather good) (den här kommentaren har blivit redigerad i efterhand)
- I only recieved help from Joel as he were the one checking my labs, but he was very helpful and patient. He helped me just enough to get me unstuck without robbing the assignments of their challenge.» (Very good)

- Why is this question even here? there were no course literature?» (Small extent)
- I used the course slides to figure out what to study, and Wikipedia and similar resources to actually learn it. The slides were not very good if one does not have a lecturer to listen listen to while looking at them.» ( Some extent)

- Why not have ONE schedule? Labs on timeedit and lectures on the homepage. Is it so hard to use one system?» (?)
- The home page is horrible. The lava tutorial was at a point uploaded as .ps? No windows machine understands this!? And why was not the Pingpong-system used? it"s really confusing to have multiple places to keep track of.» (Very badly)

- ssignment was almost impossible to solve and there were no guidance to how to solve the 4th.» (Poor)
- Because having an exam that test what has been said, yes said as in what the teacher said on the lectures, is just wrong. Especially when there is no real book for course literature so students can study, there was only one past exam (with good solutions though) and pdf"s with notes from the lectures! The big part of the exam tested stuff that students had no experience with doing, since there were no tutorial sessions so students could practice what had been said on the lectures. And the take home exams? why have them at all? There is no way in an real situation were anyone faced with a task lite those would be isolated. The VHDL/PSL exam were graded 10p for vhdl and 20p for psl, I spent about 95%of the time on the exam with the vhdl, due to that requirement of Gaisler"s method. Wich by the way never was motivated? why did we necessarily have to use that? The Lava take home exam was ridiculously hard, the first and 2nd assignment was printed in plain text in the PM. The 3rd assignment was almost impossible to solve and there were no guidance to how to solve the 4th.» (Poor) (den här kommentaren har blivit redigerad i efterhand)

13. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- the lab sessions !!»
- PSL verification was interesting, more of it! Home tentaminas giving part of the final grade is great, makes you want to do good on them.»

14. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- More lectures on VHDL and LAVA»
- The course assumes a lot of knowledge from different kind of backgrounds (vhdl, hardware in general, haskell). Most people don"t have all that knowledge at hand and that is why I think the course is harder than it is supposed to be.»
- It should be possible to do the labs by oneself. It would also be nice with a more high-level approach to the subject. One way to do this is to have more Lava and less VHDL. Notice that I only mean the approach, not the things discussed (such as circuits, gates, etc). Those obviously have to be on a low level.»
- Perhaps, deadlines for take-home exams should be a little bit more flexible.»
- I think that it focuses to much on writing VHDL in different ways. I want to learn more on actually verifying circuits rather than writing them in different ways.»

- There should be more cover for formal methods.»
- Most of the time on the "PSL" lab was spent writing VHDL, more focus on verifying!»
