- The course aims at providing a common basis to Master students and PhD students in the Materials Science graduate school. This however misses that for many PhDs this is 95% repetition. Nevertheless the course is obligatory. It should be the decision of the supervisor if the PhD student has to hear this course. As it is, it is more or less a waste of time.» (No, the goals are set too low)

- I am sorry to say but Lena was not very helpful as compared to Janusz. Janusz was avaialable all the time when I went to him but Lena was outside Chalmers most of the time when I tried to reach her. » (Very good)

- There was a huge difference in skill between me and my labpartner which resultet in that I had to rewrite all of his contributions to the report so they were gramatically correct.» (Rather poorly)

- I have 1 comment about this. In the begining it is not very high but in last two weeks it is very tough to manage the time. Specially if some group is unlucky then things can get worst ever. I would like to suggest that the deadline for handing in the project proposal should be earlier and the project should start immediately in the later week. » (High)

- As stated above - pure repetition in my case. Something should be changed about that.» (Poor)
- It managed to convey a good understanding of which techniques are used for different purposes and it feels like a course that will benefit my following learning.» (Good)

19. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- As stated above...»
- the deadline of project plan should be more earlier so that students can put some extra time for the analysis of the outputs of experiments.»
- I think there should be more lectures in the first 3 or 4 weeks so most of the lectures are done when the project begins. Usually there isn"t so much in other courses that early in the period which will make this possible. I also think that the project should start at least one weeek earlier to even out the work load. Our lab supervisor was sick so the labsession was moved forward one week which resulted in a lab session 3 days before the presentation. Since I had a lot do do in other courses the schedule was very tight that week. If the the project would have started earlier this could have been prevented. »
- Groupwise report submission should be changed.Because members of a group may not be able to help his groupmate who is writing the report.»

21. Additional comments

- I have 1 suggestion. There must be some sort of quiz or home assignment. Students mostly focus on couple of techniques during the course. By introducing home quiz student will definitely give some more time to other techniques as well.»
- I think ,inorder to evaluate a student performance taking this course,short project must be assigned individually.If it is not possible to assigned short project individually then at least report should be submitted individually.And the presentation of every student should be graded seperately.By this way every student will be bound to perticipate in project. »
