1. How many hours per week did you spend on this course?

- I really wanted to spend more time on programming project but the other course(biotechnical physics)was also time consuming...» (Around 20 hours/week)
- One of the most time consuming courses on chalmers it felt like. I only read one and a half course during the time but it still felt like a lot of studies.» (Around 25 hours/week)

- The lectures with Hoi was not worth attending» (50%)
- Some lectures were, I"m sad to say, not very good. There were lots of equations but hard to not what was what and used where...» (75%)
- I was sick and then mostly had to work from home.» (75%)
- Level of lectures were not good. For example in microwave tomography part, it would be better to have a general introduction first and then go through details, because many of my colleagues didn"t have any experience in electromagnetics, just like me.» (100%)

Goals and goal fulfilment

The course syllabus states the course goals in terms of learning outcomes, i.e., knowledge, skills and attitudes to be acquired by the student during the course.

- i would like more questions where we could explain more about things so we could show that we understod every technique. true and false questions are not prefereble on the examen but on the midterm more. » (To some extent)

- The slides are good» (Some extent)
- the lectures could be much more clearer and easy to follow.» (Some extent)
- Many of the guest lectures was good. The MRI was super. The guy from Australia that talked about radar imaging was just strange since it has almost nothing to do with medical imaging. At least the way he put it. Unfortunately Hoi needs to work on his own lectures, the language which is limiting the concentration as well could be a part of the problem. He tries and is a nice funny guy but the teaching is just not that good.» (Some extent)

7. To what extent has the course literature and other material been of help for your learning?

- but mostly because we had another course, biotechnical physics, which had a lot of hands-in and other projects, labs reports at the same time as this course» (High)
- The microwave lab had very bad instructions. Could have taught the same much more effectively by making a more professional structured lab PM.» (High)

Poor»0 0%
Fair»4 22%
Adequate»6 33%
Good»6 33%
Excellent»2 11%

Genomsnitt: 3.33

- The course is interesting, but unfortunally a not so good lecturer made it boring. The whole course felt like a joke, it seems like it just wasn"t thought trough. What were we supposed to have learnt? The physics behind it are mixed with the built-up of the instruments and the image reconstruction part. It is a bit whimsy if you ask me.» (Fair)
- Microwave Tomography lab should be removed because it is just time wasting and don"t get any feel.» (Fair)
- Keep the course! It is very relevant for us in the Biomedical Engineering program.» (Good)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- All the lectures, The lab and the project 1.»
- the projects»
- guest lecture. project work, same textbook»
- CT and MRI projects are enough and very useful. They should preserved to next year.»
- The quest lecturers specially the professor who came from Gothenburg University for MRI section. »
- I really like to get an overall knowledge about the difference Exray methods»
- The MRI lectures was really good. The deep understanding that the course was meant to give on the different techniques is good. The CT-project was great.»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- change project 2 into software-based project, like project 1, not only answering questions on paper.»
- 1) Talk to those in charge of the course Biomedical Instrumentation (this past year Sabine Reinfeld and Bo Håkansson) and make the two courses differ more. Most of us (those in the biomedical engineering program) have taken both... 2) I understand that Microwave tomography is interesting for those working with it in Chalmers but is i really relevant, in the big perspective, for this course? I would rather learn more about radiology, mri , ultrasound and nuclear medicine. 3) Do not just copy the exams from time to time! 4) The lecture on target identification was not so much diagnostic imaging???»
- Course book - not necessary, clear on what the course is about»
- the lectures should be more "interesting", not just reading from the slides. last presentation of the MRI applications was not well prepared by the students, hard to know what was expected.»
- instruction of lab MT..confused and not clear»
- The grading system»
- Look into removing the written exam and just base grade on the labs, projects and presentation.»
- The lecture notes should become easy to follow. And microwave tomography lab should be removed because it is just time wasting and don"t get any feel.»
- For the course we must deliver 2 projects and one lab report. I spend 2 weeks on the lab report and 1 week for each project. Considering the fact that the whole quarter is 8 weeks and most students have another course as well. I think it is not possible for anyone to study the material during the quarter so I think that this tasks should be somehow reduced to let the students have time for studying. »
- Maybe to go a bit deaper»
- The quality of the exam questions and the preexam. Someone should look them through and at least look for grammar and spelling mistakes since there were a lot. The lectures in the first weeks of the course.»

16. Additional comments

- The course is good, I learned a lot, but the workload is somehow high, and the written exam is somehow difficult.»
- Not sure if I think that the course (as it is today) should be mandatory for students not taking the Image track. If the course is more about the instruments them self and not so much about image reconstruction it is okey, but not as it is today.»
- Microwave Tomography lab should be removed because it is just time wasting and don"t get any feel.»
- Diagnostic imaging is not a single course it is actually a major. So 8 weeks is very short time for learning diagnostic imaging. Considering the fact that the course syllabus actually covers all well-known imaging modalities plus Microwave tomography. I think it is better two cover the course in a whole semester like biomedical instrumentation and medicine for engineers. »
- A lot of the things that are discussed in this course has allready been discussed in an earlier course. The laboration took a lot of time.»
- Some parts we discussed in the instrumentation course. One should look that over to make sure that not the same parts are dealt with over and over again. The microwave lab was interesting but needs to be remade with much structure.»
