- It would be nice if you mention that projects on unix are focusing on text file manupulation, and on Java are foucsing on writing Graphical application, even though lectures cover syllabus enoughly.» (The goals clearly describe what I am supposed to learn)

4. Are the goals reasonable considering your background and the number of credits?

Answer this this question and the succeeding one, only if you do know the course goals.

- The course covers a basic part of object oriented programming in Java, but we are expecting more advanced content like data structures and algorithms» (Adequate)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The computer lab time. That is the single most important thing in this course. Also, the Unix part is really good, even for a part-time Linux user.»
- Yes,definitely»
- unix part is really helpful. there is no such course in chalmers that we can learn such things.»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- There is nothing that really HAS to change to next year. Overall, this is a really good course.»
- not much necessary»
- I believe it"s hard to write complete programs on paper during the exam, even if we have supporting materials. Without working with a compiler it"s hard to debug the code on paper, because that"s how programming supposed to be. I think the better to evaluate what people have learn in the course is to ask people to write pieces of code or even pseudocode to test their understanding of algorithms and the features of the language or objected oriented programming. Exact syntax and complete program structure should not be so important when they are written on papers. Another approach maybe to distribute the evaluation during the study period, in which we could have heavier workload for the assignment by giving extra tasks by completing which students are granted by bonus points benefiting their final exam. That would be a good way to motivate people work harder during the course, instead of spend time on preparing for a paper based programming exam. Because learning by doing real programming tasks is the best way of learning how to program.»
- The exam did have a too short time span in considerations to the questions. Either give us more time or do a bit shorter questions. Also unix part needs a book. It is currently too dependent on that you attend lessons and if you miss a lecture or if they clash you have a very hard time to catch up. »

16. Additional comments

- It will be better if teacher can give some advise to further the programming study after finishing the course.»
