2. The number of lecturers

The course used a large number of external experts as lecturers. How did you like this compared to the more typical course with one or a few acamic teachers?

- It is important to have theory lectures and guest lectures also. The guest lecture should not repeat the same aspects --> spend time to develop examples, relation between theory and reality » (I like this better)
- Many lecturers gave contradicting information and many variations of the same concepts. More structured and effective basic information should be available, for example based on this year"s lecture content and then guest lecturers are good.» (It makes little difference)

Goals and goal fulfilment

The course syllabus states the course goals in terms of learning outcomes, i.e., knowledge, skills and attitudes to be acquired by the student during the course.

- List the most important sensor principles under consideration for automotive safety applications and to explain their technological advantages and limitations.
- Explain the special challenges that are encountered in information processing in vehicle safety system applications.
- Explain the most common systems for vehicle control assistance and intervention and to analyse their potential and possible limitations.
- Explain different system principles for information based interaction and communication with the vehicle surrounding.
- Describe the most important principles for driver information display and to explain the challenges in designing systems that are adapted to the human cognitive capacity and human behaviour and response.
- Explain the potential for improved crash safety and post collision emergency care with the use of new technologies.
- Compare, evaluate and prioritise between different active safety systems.

- It was difficult for a written examination. Grading limits were set too high. I prefer home exam.» (I would have liked a home exam better)

- Home exam would definitely have been better. Then you would actually learn more I think. You get to search for and write about what is really relevant, therefore you will actually remember it better afterwards which I assume is important.» (I would have liked a home exam better)

The intension is to allow you to collect and synthesise information similar to a real world investigation work. Another aim is to let you organise your work and learning in your own way. Did it fullfill these goals

- Task for the project can be defined more clear, as for now it can be understood in different ways. On the other hand it gives students some freedom.» (Yes, very much)

- I recommend better organizing of the huge amount of files online. Till next time, please put them in a number of folders named according to content. Also, each lecture could be given a number in the beginning of the filename to indicate the chronological order. This would have saved me (and other students) some problems/time.» (Rather well)

- I think students can handle more lectures in this course. There are so many interesting topics in the area, I would like to have more lectures.»

- all the lecture begin with the same general information so it would be better to suppress it after a while. »
- For this course to work, it must be "Advanced Active traffic safety" instead with mandatory prerequisite of standard "Active safety" course»
