- The average work load was good (only taking this course and Autonomous Agents), but sometimes all the work came at the same time. Especially the last examples sheet and the last home problem in AA had the same day as the deadline. That day was also just three days before the exam in AA. This and the fact that the workload in other courses (old or new) which students may take generally is much higher just before the exams makes me think that it wouldbe great if you and Mattias could have the last hand in on different and earlier dates.» (Adequate)

- The parts on fractals however felt a bit detached and I don"t see how my knowledge about fractal dimensions etc gain me anything. I see that its an important concept, but it was not very well presented in the course.» (Good)

17. What should be changed to next year?

- The applications (shown in very simple terms) should be emphasied more, both at the begining and at the end of the course.»
- More open questions, derivation, etc. Gives another kind of understanding on the problem, and encourages discussion (even if students tend to copy from others, they (at least I do) discuss about it)»
- Maybe add a bit more of the mathematical aspects for dynamical systems»

If you have opinions on it, comment on this course evaluation.

- The examples sheets are too easy, in the sense that you do not have to understand what you do, and you still get points. Also, the scoring systems (and/or Kristian) does not discriminate enough between well worked out examples and lazy examples. Students that do not explain or clearly motivate and explain their implementation and results can get the same score as someone that really proves he/she has understood the problem and the solution. Perhaps a 1-10 grading would be good so that the minuses is reflected on the total score, or that Kristian gets a bit stricter and requires more proof of understanding. For instance, a picture with the result (e.g. the the Lyapunov exponent for different parameter values) with no real explaining text should not give ANY points. At the same time, students that answer more than asked for, and have an error in their reasoning, should not get points deducted for that flaw. That has happened and it discourages us students from really trying to understand the problems. I would have liked to see more questions of the kind "explain why ..." or "how does this connect to ...". That would encourage deeper understanding and would benefit those that really put time into the problems.»
