- Very high quality on the lectures. Very good mix with black board/projector and an award for delivering handouts IN ADVANCE. Details: Maby the text written on the board could be in a bit more compact form. If you slack behind while taking notes, it"s hard to catch up because of the long sentences. Enough with shorter informative text without unnecessary words in many places. Very good figures, diagrams especially in the beginning with the control theory - clear that most lectures were greatly prepared» (Large extent)
- Good lectures!» (Large extent)
- Good lecture content. The controller part of the first few lectures was important since the book was weak on this.» (Large extent)
- Very well structured.» (Great extent)
- Good exercise sessions and great lectures.» (Great extent)

- The book was good but got most information from lectures. Didn"t have to use the book very much.» (Small extent)
- The lectures were very similar to the cource book (Good). Maby a computer session in the beginning of the cource to get help with the software? Maby som clear step by step instructions on paper how to get from scratch (getting the DVD) to having a test program loaded in mplab?» (Some extent)
- The lectures where good, so I didnät need the book so much. I would have preferred a compendia more adapted to the course (not for the Lund-course).» (Some extent)
- The course book did not help me so much. The overview of computer control was helpful for that part of the course.» (Some extent)
- What was the purpose of the "article"?» (Large extent)

8. How well did the course administration, web page, handouts etc work?

- We haven"t gotten the results fron hand in 1 yet and the result from hand int 2 was gievn during the exam week. It is very strange to no knowing how it went in the hand ins before the exam. » (Very badly)
- worst ever!» (Very badly)
- Late hand-out, slow correktion » (Very badly)
- All hand-ins should have had start dates and deadlines assigned when the course started, so one can be able to better plan the study period. Would be nice to get results from the hand-ins a little quicker.» (Rather badly)
- The main problem is that the handouts were given out late, and even modified after. It also took very long time to correct them. Hand-in 2 was not corrected before the deadline of hand-in 3, eventhough hand-in 3 was based on hand-in 2.» (Rather badly)
- Site was not ready nor quickly updated. Could easily have been fixed. » (Rather badly)
- The real course homepage were never used, not even a link was put there-really bad. The news on the homepage wasn"t updated very well. The hand ins need to be corrected and better written. Quite a few errors and very bad described. The handins changed during the time they very passed out-not good. » (Rather badly)
- Lots of errors in hand-ins and changed hand-in 3 in laste minute.» (Rather badly)
- Would be better to also have syllabus, handins etc as downloadable documents. A link from studieportalens home page (not existing) to real course hompage.» (Rather well)
- Some changes in the assignments were announced very late.» (Rather well)
- Web page was ok but why don"t use Studentportalen? It is more convenient to have all courses at the same place.» (Rather well)
- same as last year» (Rather well)
- The course administration should be done in the student portal. The course had an own website, which is superfluous and unnecessary effort.» (Rather well)

- the exercises sessions could be improved, for example better questions - some of the were not suitable for this course (like the exam from lund)» (Rather good)
- Questions about the hand-in havent been answered very well, because the teacher and teaching assistent were partly not prepared (especially handin2)» (Rather good)
- Both on lectures and exercises! very helpful and interested people.» (Very good)

- Since I"ve taken both the Digital Control course, and several courses in computer science (+ work experience), the course load was rather low.» (Low)
- Maby some of the exercises could be in Studion so you can test programs yourself during exercises.» (High)

12. How was the total workload this study period?

- This question is probably only interresting considering the other course(s) i took. I only took this course and CTE031 - Teknikhistora.» (Low)
- Too many assignments and labs at once» (High)
- My own fault, was dumb enough to read 3 courses.» (Too high)

Summarizing questions

13. What is your general impression of the course?

32 svarande

Poor»0 0%
Fair»4 12%
Adequate»9 28%
Good»17 53%
Excellent»2 6%

Genomsnitt: 3.53

- I had a bit higher expectations...» (Fair)
- Course intention and course teacher are good. But the level was too low and more challenging project would bring a learning improvement.» (Fair)
- Too easy course. A lot of repetition from courses like Digital Control, "Maskinorienterad programmering Z" and "Industriautomation"» (Adequate)
- Could have been more demanding. If it had been slightly harder I"d say Good.» (Adequate)
- A good course to show the implementation of control systems.» (Good)
- Would be nice with one larger project that resulted in hand-ins and laborations (yes more laborations) or at least the laboration should also include real-time programming» (Good)
- The course is very interesting and probably very useful too.» (Good)
- I think the hand ins and the lab could be improved and made more interesting. Maybe a larger project? » (Good)
- Takes upp many interesting things that is practicaly good to know.» (Good)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- hand-ins»
- Last hand-in 3 and the lab»
- -The well structured lectures. -Hand in 3.»
- Good to publish notes from lectures and exercises on course homepage.»
- lecture structure (black-bord mixed with projector) and also preserve Kurt who has a genuine interest in the cource and in his students. Also Sajed was very competent but some structure is needed when writing on the blackboard.»
- The amount of workload. Yes, it was low, but it was well needed after a tough period with Digital Control and Optimization, for me atleast.»
- Implementing control algorithms in microcontrollers»
- The lectures are very good»
- Better feedback on handins and the results should be given in good time if you have to do it again before the exam.»
- I think that is not necessary to know about for instance, communication details or what happens in the CAN bus. It should more focus on control implementation.»
- Laboratory session.»
- Quest lecture, labb»
- The way the lerning outcomes was presented in the end.»
- guest lecture of endian, teacher is very good as long as he doesnt use powerpoint as lecture media. powerpoint is generally not appropriate for lectures (difficult to stay concentrated, no active learning, everything is monotone)»
- Hand ins and labb maybe»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- more exercise sessions, but when the student is supposed to solve problems and with a teacher to aks if help is needed»
- The first hand-in is not relevant.»
- Less repetition. More practical work.»
- The information of what each lecture will cover could be extended to make it possible for students with príor knowledge in the subject to choose not to attend theese lectures.»
- More information on the course homepage. Many things have just been told on the lectures. One missed lecture because of illness etc can make you miss important iformation, not good. Information on which chapters and pages each lecture reference to. This to be able to study sections before given lectures. Better information on the course page in studentportal (there is for example not a link from that page to the "real" course hompage).»
- one lecture hour on RTOS»
- More given out exercises + table of exercises to do each week.»
- The first hand-in is not really interesting»
- The essay felt quite weird...»
- Switch hand-in 1 for another lab-session»
- Clearer instructions for getting started with the software installations. OK we should be able to figure it out but it took an unnecessary amount of time.»
- It would be nice if there is a larger project for the course to be worked on with the hand-ins and the lab. session. Also want more advanced problems for this assignment, maybe some control task over network implemented in microcontrollers. »
- The hand-ins description»
- Put more power into rewriting the tree handins.»
- To return the hand-ins a week after we handed in, since we can have time to correct everything on time, not after the exam.»
- the hand -in»
- teaching assistant should work on his "teaching skills" and be more calm at the black board. the handins should be more difficult and the purpose of them better explained.»
- Have a examinator that have time for the course »

16. Additional comments

- It would be nice to merge some of the handin assignments to a larger project to solve some larger problem. Maybe to solve a large distributed control system, could be a mobile robot with CAN between subsystems etc. The different control problems could then be divided among the groups of students. In the end of the course all parts could be put togheter and put into the system. The hardware of the system can be allready provided togheter with the basic code for communication. This could provide a more interesting project were the different aspects of implementation can be chown togheter with the communication between MCU"s.»
- Very nice course»
- more response and for god sakes update the homepage with news!»
- uncertain about putting the lecture notes on the internet before the end of the course. having the notes was great but how awake/what attendance would one have if they were printed out beforehand?»
- The course homepage need to be better updated and the news in the course should be put on the page. »
- Powerpoint is not suitable for holding lectures. The lectures where the professor was writing on the board were very good.»
- Extended laboration and more interactive lectures regarding programming on a blackboard instead of using a projektor.»
