- The course did not include all it was supposed to. For example band structure calculations and disordered matter was not included. Of course I don"t know if this was intentional and the course goals were just not updated. » (To some extent)
- Questions could have been more evenly distributed among the lectures/course topics. Exam should have been more difficult since it was an open book exam (there was time to find everything you needed in the book).» (To some extent)

- I really haven"t had that much time to read the literature, but the handouts and review questions have been quite useful.» (Some extent)
- The problem is that neither the used course book (Ashcroft) nor Marder covered the whole field of the lecture.» (Some extent)

- Hard=good, otherwise it will be boring. This part of the course could be extended, preferably with some qualitative questions as well. Now it is mostly a mathematical exercise.» (Hard)

- Leonid is good at explaining things but could improve his black board technique a bit. Sometimes it gets very confusing with formulas in no particular order. » (Fair)

- The review questions are a good idea. Also, doing mostly calculations on the homeworks and mostly qualitative questions on the exam is a good thing. »
- it is nice to cover this huge amount of different topics in this course and to get a nice overview over condensed matter physics»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I am working with semiconductors and I hoped that I could learn something about it in the course. But there was nothing special. You should definitely add a semiconductor part to this course.»
- It seems like the lecturer has too little time to prepare handouts, since there are quite a few mistakes in them. Also, it would be good either to update the course goals or include all that is supposed to be included according to the present goals .»

- All the errors on the blach board during the lectures and in the lecture notes. »

16. Additional comments

- In the lecture it would be very useful if the topic is also stated at the blackboard. Nobody would also mind if the teacher uses his lecture notes as a support to his writings on the blackboard. Many mistakes (like - signs, missing constants) could be prevented in this way. It was very often quite confusing to follow the lecture, because errors on the blackboard threw me out of my concept and I did not understand anymore what the calculations were all about. Still I think the teacher put much effort into the lecture (it was very nice to get a detailed comment on the topic of each leacture before it started)»
