- The first question was more calculation than mechanics. There were a lot of things to know how to derivate in the learning outcomes and sometime it is confusing during the exam even if we had worked well to learn them. It could be better to have some hints ?!» (To some extent)

- quite a chock-start! A good thing though, but it is important that you inform the students from the first day that there is twelve problems that should be handed in at first assignment. I understood it quite late, first i thought it was only three problems that should be handed in first week, due to the course pm.» (Much)

- I found Assignment 2 to be excellent. Being provided a computationally solved problem and then picking it apart to check it matches reality seemed to be an excellent way to convey key fluid mechanic principles.» (?)

- I found the third assignment did nothing except give a good refresher on how to integrate indefinite integrals. Unluckily for myself I spent far too much time trying to get my analytical description of a plate to produce a reasonable result I wasted A LOT of time just rearranging equations and not learning anything at all. When most of my fellow students were beginning to study for exams I was banging my head on the table because of having looked over a cubic term.» (Not at all)

- This part may be the most difficult comparing with the others parts because it was more abstract ( particles scale ). The good thing in this part was the explanation of many phenomenas with cases in point ( ie diffusion term part...)» (Great extent)

- Mase is not the best text I have come accross. It has a lot of solved problems, but most of these are "proof" type problems than implementation of the work developed in the text. I found one of the ebooks we have access to through the library to be much better at least for section 1 of the course: Elements of Continuum Mechanics by Romesh C. Batra» (Some extent)
- It was very cheap and it provided enough to learn what we needed to learn, so thanks. » (Some extent)

- The first part of section 1 does not really need lecture notes, it"s like explaining a+b=b+a. The second part of section 1, the derivations, would be better supplied as a pdf which is walked through and thoroughly discussed. Copying down so much information encourages mistakes in our notes which leads to confusion.» (Small extent)

- I got frustrated a lot because of language problems, and we both struggled with the course....which made everything difficult. But we made it through and finished everything, so no major complaints.» (Rather poorly)

- I believe there where too many concepts and theories / derivations to remember, it would be better to focus more generally with greater focus on understanding the underlying physics.» (Adequate)

- More problem solving sessions, where the students can sit and do some of the exercises and get help if needed (as in the first part) »

- examination with problem needing more thinking rather memorizing how to derivate 26 formulas»
- Another book. The lecture notes gave me more than the book did.»

- Try putting the entire lectures for part 1 and part 3 in the lecture notes, so we don"t need to write as many notes. »

- In second part it would be nice, if you would know on the exam, what you have to derive. Because one shouldn"t learn the results by-hart, but should be able to derive it correctly. »

- Mase book did not seem to be a text book that can be used as a reference book but a nice one to increase ones ability to solve continuum mechanics problems. It might be a good idea to change for a better reference. »

25. Additional comments

- i would prefer a more careful introuction to the indices, maybe part 1 could have one more lecture and part 2 one less... It would be really valuable to have a little more time to understand how the indices work and get used to it.. »
- Lars Davidsson has to be teaching in more coarses, he is great!!»
- The content of the course is ok, but more coud be added, and less time spent on "kindergarden" things. I was mostly upset because I felt intellectualy insulted by the lectures»
