- the photonic part could have been closer to the lectures» (To some extent)
- The exam was a bit evil specially on the photnics part since the lectures havent been on an equvalent level. And one culdnt then learn how to solve that type of problems.» (Yes, definitely)
- But too long problems. I did know how to solw them but didn"t have time to do them all!» (Yes, definitely)
- There were too many "large" questions - a lot of text, heavy calculations. I felt the time was really too short for this year"s exam, compared to old exams.» (Yes, definitely)

- The microwave part was really good. But the photonics part didnt give me tools to hand the exam problem. No examples on the same level as the exam and the lecturer didnt want to have tutorials neither lectures on a level which would help ha pass the exam. » (Some extent)
- In the microwave part the lectures and the tutorials have been very helpful but in the photonics part I feel that I did not get the tools needed to handle the exam problems in this area. The lectures and the tutorials did not reach upp to the level of the exam problems by far! » (Some extent)
- Sheila is very good! The tutorials with Hossein were very un-organized and seemed to be poorly prepared, and they often did not end on time. I skipped quite a few of them. Hans"s lectures were too much PowerPoint, and it did not help my learning much compared to Collin"s book. I chose not to attend so many of Hans"s lectures.» (Some extent)

- Slides and lecture notes good. Collins book not so good.» (Some extent)
- The potonics book was good but the are bad in specifying units they are using and uses different defintions on different parts which mankes it difficult to follow the book. The microwave book was good combined with the lectures.» (Large extent)
- I didn"t need the collins book so much because the powerpoint slides and the tutorials explained it all very vell. » (Large extent)
- Collins book describes appoximately the same things as the lectures on microwaves. The book by Saleh-Teich is not always easy to follow, and describes things on a far deeper level than the photonics lectures did. I used the lecture notes from the photonics part far more than from the microwave part!» (Large extent)

- A little to much information to handle. And it is rather mean to excpect us to print out hundreds of papers which we had to pay for usself when we also had to buy books for over 2000 crowns. Im not rich!!!!» (Rather badly)
- scale the big pages that were scanned, let ppl buy the binder because it litteraly took hours to print that thing on the printer system at cth» (Rather badly)
- It"s a little much on the web page and it would be helpful if everything were out there at least two days in advance. I also think that it is very strange that the course demands you to print out hundreds of pages when books for almost 2000 kr has been bought. I does not make any sense!» (Rather well)
- Th recommended problems should be posted on the web IN THE BEGINNIG of the course.» (Rather well)
- The last home assignment was handed out too late and we only had 3 days to do it. I think it was on the web page on Friday 10 Nov, but Hans had written in an e-mail that it should be distributed on Monday 13 Nov. Thus, I did not find it until Monday.» (Rather well)
- Some of the course material on the webpage is distributed in an insanley large resolution A0+ which gives unnessesarly large files and causes problems with some of the schols printers.» (Rather well)

- First of all, we don´,t have access to the teachers corridor. Fix this! Photonics part it was quite easy to get holf of Sheila, but Hans were seldome in his office. Fortunatly Hussein were sometimes available to help.» (Rather poor)
- many fairly basic questions couldnt be answered directly» (Rather poor)
- I like the MUD cards.» (Very good)
- The teachers wer very eager and responsible in both class and in their offices.» (Very good)

- It was higs since there was no recomended problems in the photonics part and no solutions to the problems.» (High)
- Since it is a new program, master, we did not know witch level was expected of us. Therefor I worked hard.» (High)

- I do not feel that I have learned as much as I should have wanted in the photonics part mainly because of the low level on the lectures and tutorials and that the book FoP isn"t all that good.» (Adequate)
- As I have desribed above, some parts of the course are very good, other parts are, in my opinion, pretty poor.» (Adequate)
- The learning process was very good. However, the examination was not well composed. Since the problems are quite extensive the time was not enough! It is a shame that you as a student dont have enough time to show what knowledge you have aquired.» (Good)

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- more consideration should be paid to the students from different backgrounds»
- The first problems on the exam should be taken for a list of about say 100-200 small similar problems. Then you would learn all these better and have a better chanse on the exam. How it is now you really dont know what is important in the course.»
- Mabye a list of recomended problems (instuderingsfrågor) for the first part of the exam would me something to add to next year? Mabye a list of about 100 questions or more and then 5 of these are choosen for the first part of the exam. This would enhance the learning of the theoretical part a lot I think!! If possible the powerpoint approach in the microwave part should change!! Very good to read afterwards but lousy as a way to lecture!!»
- Skip lectures on vector fields, speed up the course in the beginning and keep an even pace over the whole period instead of suddenly increasing the pace halfway in.»

- Homeassignments need a slight change. If you have managed to solve or make reasonable attempt on all homeassginment, let the student skip one problem on the exam with full point on that problem. This is good for time to solve the rest, and it doesnt compromise the learning process. I think everyone would make serious attempts on solving the assignment and hence learn alot. »
- lectures of photonics should be more advanced but the level of tutorials are adequate.»

- Raise the level on the photonics lectures and tutorials!!!!»
- The photonics part of the course felt a bit fussy and it was hard to know which formulas to use and when. One should deal more thorough with them and try to understand them together with the teacher.»

MUD cards were used to give feedback on Most Unclear Discussion during each lecture in the photonics part of the course.

- This is something every lecturer shuld have!!! This was a really good system which should be kept to the next year. But as i sad earlier the level on the lecturs is to low so the system doesn work at the moment but will if the lecturelevel is increased. » (Yes, quite a bit)

- I only attended a few, as I soon became fed up by the chaotic manner in which the problem-solving was performed. I prefer tutorials where the teacher solves the problems, not the students. It is good that the teacher asks the students to come up with ideas on how to solve a problem or which step to take next in the solution. However, I don"t see the point in letting everyone try to solve the problem in 5 minutes, and then start to solve it on the whiteboard. I also think that the tutorials should be better prepared.» (No, not at all)
- The tutorer didnt always felt adeqvately prepaired and mixed up alot of things» (Just a bit)
- I dont like power points really but having it all printed out later was great! But you dont learn anything on the lectures if you have powerpints, It is really ahrd to follow the lectures then. But as a complement powerpionts is great.» (Yes, very much so)
- After the first course evaluation Hossein changed a lot and I think that he became outstanding!!» (Yes, very much so)

- Smith chart with VSWR was good. Other one way to much time preassure. Don"t fill the lab memo with alot of things. Better to let us test some things and so on to help us learn. Good explanation by the lab demonstrators.» (Just a bit)

- The labassistance was great in both labs! I learned alot on these!» (Yes, very much so)

- The lab demonstrater started by saying "Ok this lab-memo sucks, and i dont really no what we should do. But lets start with looking here.." and so on.... He didnt believe in the product he was "selling" so i´,m a bit dissapointed.» (No, not at all)
- The second lab was very unhelpful. The labassistant who was supposed to show us a bunch of things did not know any of it himself and he was "finished" after about 20 min! It was benneath contempt!!» (Just a bit)
- The photonics labs were only a small part of the lab time. I think it was more like a demonstration, and it did not seem to be that relevant if you consider the material of the photonics lectures.» (Just a bit)
- I think they could be improved. Especially the second lab was quite unclear about what to do. » (Just a bit)
